Description

Why buy the Anglepoise Type 75 Lamp with Wall Bracket

  • Quintessentially British, the Anglepoise Type 75 is instantly recognisable.
  • Using Anglepoise' patented 4 springed technology developed in 1931, it is credited as redefining the desk lamp.
  • The Type 75 includes an energy-saving light bulb that emits a light intensity suitable for use as a professional task lamp.
  • The wall bracket has a subtle profile, with a broader backplate for better stability, and adds options for hardwiring a lamp or a trailing cable to the wall socket.
  • Available in a variety of colours

Why you'll love this lamp:

The instantly recognisable Anglepoise silhouette is classically elegant but lends itself perfectly to a host of applications in contemporary spaces. Whilst the Type 75 uses the original 4 springed Anglepoise® design developed by George Carwardine in 1931, it has been brought up to date for the 21st century with the inclusion of modern features such as the energy saving lightbulb.

Sir Kenneth Grange

Sir Kenneth Grange (b.1929) is a British industrial designer with an incredible design legacy. His career began as a drafting assistant with the architect Jack Howe in the 1950s but independence only came with commissions for exhibition stands, rather accidentally. He was a founding partner of design consultancy Pentagram in the 1970s and his designs have spanned the far reaches of everyday design : parking meters, food mixers, cameras, razors, irons, cigarette lighters, washing machines, pens, postboxes and key components of the Inter City 125 (British rail's high speed train). Here we show his designs for British lighting company Angelpoise for which, despite retiring from Pentagram in 1997, he continues to work independently.
