Description

The Panthella Lamp is among Verner Panton's most iconic creations, embodying the vibrant spirit of the renowned Danish architect. Panton’s vision was to design a lamp with an organic form that delivers completely glare-free illumination, achieved by using both the base and shade as reflective surfaces.

Collaborating with Louis Poulsen in 1971, he brought the Panthella lamp to life. Its distinctive silhouette and ability to diffuse a soft, ambient glow from its trumpet-like base have secured its place as a timeless design classic.

The Panthella 160 Portable Lamp V3 offers a compact, modern version of this classic, measuring just 160mm across. This portable size is ideal for moving around the home or enhancing outdoor spaces like balconies or gardens with its stunning, mood-setting light.

Verner Panton

Verner Panton (1926–1998) was one of Denmark’s most influential and daring 20th-century designers, celebrated for his bold use of colour, innovative materials, and sculptural forms. Originally working for Arne Jacobsen he broke away from the traditional Scandinavian design language of natural woods and muted tones, embracing plastic, steel, and vibrant palettes to create designs that felt futuristic, playful, and unmistakably modern.

Best known for the Vitra Panton Chair, the world’s first moulded plastic chair made from a single piece, his work pushed the boundaries of what furniture and lighting could be. From striking pendant lamps to expressive modular seating systems, Panton’s creations are not only functional but also immersive, transforming interiors into environments full of personality and energy.

Throughout his career, he collaborated with leading brands such as Vitra producing pieces that remain icons of modern design. His lamps and furniture are now regarded as design classics, held in museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the V&A in London.
