Spotlight on the &Tradition Little Petra
Named 'Little Petra' after Boesen's mother-in-law, the chair's petite frame and beautifully curved backrest create a cosy, cocooned seating environment that is perfect for the ultimate, reclined relaxation.
History of the Little Petra Lounge Chair
Little Petra is a refined and inviting lounge chair, designed by Danish designer Viggo Boesen in 1938. Despite winning instant praise at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, and subsequently winning awards at exhibits in New York and Berlin, the chair was initially made-to-order for private clients only. With just 30 chairs produced in those early days, Boesen's design remained relatively unseen for 80 years, until &Tradition reintroduced Little Petra to the wider modern audience.
"Little Petra is a real find from the archives of Danish design. With only about 30 pieces ever produced, &Tradition is thrilled to bring this little-known treasure back to life, honouring Boesen’s original design and love of natural materials." - &Tradition
This refined and inviting low lounge chair is constructed using high-quality materials, including an oak or walnut frame and soft, durable upholstery. Little Petra reflects Boesen’s approach to design, with its fluid, organic expression designed to naturally embrace the body.
Surprisingly petite, the Little Petra lounge chair offers a level of versatility not afforded by most lounge chairs. Little Petra's low-to-the-ground nature and relatively small footprint makes it perfect for anywhere in the home, from a cosy reading nook to a home office.
&Tradition are known for their impeccable approach to craftsmanship and Little Petra is another excellent example of this in action. Don't believe us? Watch the video below showing the steps undertaken by expert craftsmen when producing every Little Petra Lounge Chair.
