Sami Kallio
Born in 1975 Sami Kallio is Finnish born designer who was raised in Sweden. It was here he honed his skills in traditional woodworking craftsmanship, including compression moulding and woodturning. He graduated from the School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg in 2005 - establishing his own design studio in 2011. As a freelance award-winning designer he combines the 'melancholy of the Finnish design heritage with the humour of the Swedish tradition' - his own words.
Translating classical and familiar shapes into contemporary expressions each design has an eye on the industrial aesthetic which, in turn, resonates with a modern-minded audience. He has worked extensively with Danish brand &Tradition and we feature his key designs created in partnership with them.
