Vitra Solvay Solid Wood Table
Designed by Jean Prouve, the EM Table (also the Solvay table) is a solid wood dining table with a strong, robust construction. The steel strut acts as a support for the wooden frame whilst also adding character and stunning detail to the table. A design classic that's available in a range of solid wood finishes and sizes to suit your interior style.

Description
This is the solid wood version of the EM Table - also known as the Solvay Table - designed by Jean Prouvé. With every single detail governed by its construction, the table follows the aesthetics of necessity. Manufactured by Vitra this is a table which had had many different forms including that with metal powder coated legs and a Wooden Top or alternatively with an HPL Laminate top. This purist version has both a solid wooden top and leg structure, supported by a tubular steel strut. It comes in Natural Oak, Smoked Oak or American Walnut with a lovely oiled finish in a number of different lengths - with a standard height of 74cm and width of 90cm.

Jean Prouve
Jean Prouvé is regarded as one of the most influential furniture designers of the early modern design movement. Specialising in the use of steel and aluminium in his designs, he is said to have considered himself more as an engineer than a modern designer. Prouvé was a pioneer of his time concentrating purely on efficiency and the materials being used rather than just the aesthetic appeal of products. His iconic Trapeze Dining Table, manufactured by Vitra is one of his many timeless designs with its alluring appeal and versatility - flexible to apply to any design style.
