Description
Marcel Breuer's Wassily Lounge Chair is one of the most iconic chair designs of all time, and here it is presented in a special series of colours, that pay tribute to the Bauhaus movement, with which Breuer and his work was synonymous. Named for his friend and colleague Wassily Kandinsky, Breuer designed his iconic chair almost a century ago, and it remains as influential a design as ever, featuring in photo shoots and on film sets regularly, it's mere presence alone a knowing shorthand for style and modernist cool.
The frame of the Wassily chair is made from tube steel, and painted with an ultra-matt finish, while the seat is of the finest quality cow hide, ensuring that it will wear well with character and last for a significant period of time. Whether opting for a single colour across the chair, or a mix-and-matched variant of two, the Wassily Bauhaus Colours edition is certain to be a talking point in any setting. The base of the chair is stamped with both Breuer's signature and the Knoll Studio logo, ensuring authenticity.

Marcel Breuer
Marcel Breuer was the protégé of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius and his entire body of work, both architecture and furniture, embodies the driving Bauhaus objective to reconcile art and industry. Inspired by bicycle construction, fabricated using the techniques of local plumbers, Breuer's first designs, including the Wassily Lounge Chair, remain among the most identifiable icons of the modern furniture movement. He was an early mentor to Florence Knoll during her time in the office of Walter Gropius and was subsequently an influential figure in Knoll's history.
