Summer. The time of year when we long for some sunshine to puncture the ubiquitous British gloom, and then moan about it being too hot when we actually do get more than a day of good weather.
But while most of us are deciding whether we can get away with wearing shorts to work, silently judging children on public transport in the throws of school holiday bliss and bemoaning the inflated cost of doing pretty much anything, some are turning their holiday game up to 11 by retiring to their summer homes.
Take a trip with us as we look at some of the most amazing summer homes around the world, and join us in battling the green-eyed monster...
What better place to start than The Hamptons? Just outside New York City, the Hamptons is the kind of place where people use 'summer' as a verb go. A playground of the rich and famous, this is where you might bump into Steven Spielberg, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez or other such superstars.
This particular property has five bedrooms, a heated pool and 7 (SEVEN) baths. It's on the market for a cool $4,800,000, which, unbelievably, is quite modest for the Hamptons.
Moving to Italy now, this is the quite spectacular Lake Como. Its picture perfect scenery is the ideal place to unwind from it all and eat yourself into a food coma on pizza and pasta. You might even bump into George Clooney or Brad Pitt who are known to enjoy the area, which suggests they only let attractive people stay there.
This breathtaking beach house is in Malibu and has 180 degree views of the ocean and white sandy beaches that are just metres away from the back door. It also has a climate controlled wine room, which is pretty much where we stopped reading. And it could be all yours for a paltry $22,000,000 or $60,000 a month. Buttons.
Jetting down under, we love this minimalist beach house in St Andrews, Australia. The sliding sides of the house are an unbelievably clever idea and we can just imagine some Utility designer furniture sitting pretty in there. Although being in Australia, you'd have to go there in our winter time to get the best out of it.
Just look at this place. Who would have a care in the world when lounging back on that huge sofa or swimming in that infinity pool. This villa in Corfu, Greece, even comes with its own concierge to care for your every need. You could be as lazy as you wanted to be, which is basically what we all want in life.
This awe-inspiring pad is in Southampton. No, not that Southampton. We're back in the Hamptons again, which is a little bit different from Hampshire. The size of this place is a little overwhelming; we probably wouldn't even use three quarters of it, although if anyone's willing to pay for us to try then we're more than happy to.
Last but not least we're heading to Mexico. Or at least we wish we were heading to Mexico so we could stay in this place. Forever. We love the rich colours in this one, especially with the evening sun drifting through the windows. This is another that's actually up for sale. Reckon we could all chip in?
