Fritz Hansen Egg Chair 60th Anniversary Edition. A design classic that promises to only get better with time.

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the design of Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair and Swan Chair Fritz Hansen have released a special edition of each chair, available now in some of the most exclusive materials. Not only do these materials reflect the now iconic silhouettes but they also enhance the personality of each lounge chair from head-to-toe too. The key word that comes to mind when discussing the chosen materials is "purity" and these pure materials are chosen specifically because they will become personal to each chair (and its user) over time.

Each material, of which there is a soft and serene PURE leather, a rich and smooth SERA wool fabric and 23 Karat old coated base, will create a beautiful patina and expression of their own as time goes by.The serenity of nature was the starting point for the design process of the 60th anniversary. The idea was to unite the renowned heritage with a design that was relevant in time. The result is a design appealing to all senses with a mission to turn pure materials into personal design objects.

About the Egg & Swan Chairs

The instantly recognisable chair designs were the brainchild of renowned architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for his SAS Royal Hotel project in Copenhagen. Since the 1950s, the chairs have been produced by Danish design brand Republic of Fritz Hansen. Crafted by specialists at their Denmark factory, the leather Egg Chair is stitched by hand, with an impressive 1100 stitches required to add the two large leather hides needed to cover the chair.  To celebrate the 60th anniversary of this design classic, Fritz Hansen have released a limited number (1,958 to mark the year of design) of extra special Egg & Swan Chairs featuring exclusive materials that enhance the personality of each one from head to toe. A small luxury booklet will be delivered as gift with each purchased Egg chair.
