Poul Christiansen Designs
Danish architect Poul Christiansen introduced a whole new Scandinavian twist to origami, creating a series of classic folding lamps that have the same following in Europe as George Nelson's Bubblr Lamps had (and continue to have) in the U.S.
Prior to his involvement at Le Klint, paper shades had been folded in pleats and in straight lines across the pleats. However, Christiansen discovered that folding in mathematical sine curves in such a way would allow for them to form a lampshade when folded, resulting in beautiful and unique sculptural shapes.
