Karim Rashid

Born in Cairo in 1960 Karim Rashid obtained a bachelor of Industrial Design in Canada in 1982 followed by postgraduate studies in Italy. For seven years he was with KAN Industrial Design and co-designed the Babel Fashion Collection. In 1993, he opened his own studio in Manhattan and as a tireless self promoter, made a huge success of it. According to his own figures he has designed approximately one hundred products every year over the last ten years and claims "the faster you work, the better you design". Rashid has produced this plethora of designs for companies including Foscarini, Edra, Alessi and Artemide and Magis.
