The J104 Chair from HAY is a classic dining chair design that originated in the 1960s. The designer, Jorgen Baekmark, worked with the Danish FDB to create a chair that brought good design to a wider audience at an affordable price.

Description
The J104 chair from HAY is a reproduction of a classic furniture design from the 1960's. The original designer, Jorgen Baekmark, was an employee and future furniture director at FDB (Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger) which was a Danish Consumers Co-operative. The FDB's chief designer was Børge Mogensen and he led a program to renew Danish furniture culture and create modern, functional and useful furniture that would be affordable for all social classes. Baekmark was also a pioneer for flat-pack furntiure which allowed these chairs to be exported worldwide, and allowing them to quickly become popular designs across the world.
