Formed in 2014 by architects Martin de Neergard Christensen, Nicholas Oldroyd and cabinet maker
Anders Thams, MOEBE create consciously made furniture and lifestyle objects, with an emphasis on detail-focussed design.

For each MOEBE product, life starts at the brand's Amager (and island that makes up part of Copenhagen) workshop and is born from their core design belief – The Philosophy of Less.

What is The Philosophy of Less?

"It’s something we think about a lot. Perhaps what we really need is less – less noise, less clutter, less waste. Room to breathe, and to appreciate the small everyday moments that give meaning to our lives."

When it comes to designing products, MOEBE's approach begins with rethinking the essence of the product. What is the core function? How can the unnecessary be removed? How can they do more with less?

"It means putting our efforts into materials, details, and construction, so that each design element has a function and a purpose. Nothing left unthought, and nothing added without meaning. Designed to function and made to last."

Since beginning their journey in 2014 MOEBE have developed their own principles of good design that informs everything they do as a business. They share our belief that great design has to do more than just look good.

MOEBE's Design Principles

Right to repair

It should always be easier and cheaper to repair than replace. The modular design of their products
allow them to be easily repaired should they break. Spare parts are available for all of their designs,
so only the piece that is borken needs to be replaced, and not the whole product.

Product with care

It is essential for MOEBE that both the people creating the products and the environment are treated correctly. That’s why they keep their producers close, with more than 40% of their production based in Denmark, and 95% of total production staying inside the EU.

Packaged responsibly

The packaging they use is as important to MOEBE as the designs themselves, which is why all of their products arrive in cardboard-based packaging, with no lamination. This protects them through the rigours of shipping, and can be easily recycled once its job is done.

Optimised for transport

MOEBE products are constructed from individual parts, meaning they can be packaged in their most reduced form. This helps cut down transport volume to an absolute minimum and reduces the shipping footprint.

Certifications

All of the wood MOEBE uses is European, and they are proud to be an FSC and PEFC certified brand, while at the same time working with the EU Ecolabel to back up their commitment to sustainable sourcing and production.

The MOEBE Shelving System

MOEBE's flagship product, the Shelving System is an endlessly adaptable, component based shelving / storage system that is built to last a lifetime. Build everything from an entire wall of storage to a dresser, wardrobe, tv stand, room divider and anything in between.

MOEBE Wedge

The Shelving system is based around a clever "wedge" system with each module (shelf, cabinet or desk) connected to the frame via 4 wooden wedges. The wedge connections allow for screw-free assembly and result in no limitations on height positioning.

The legs that act as the frame are available in 3 sizes options, all of which can be attached to each other to extend you unit as high or as wide as required. Start your storage system as small or as large as you wish, and add bays as and when you need extra storage.

The last bed you'll ever buy.

The MOEBE bed has been designed to be fully expandable, allowing it to adapt to your changing lifestyle and space. A single 90cm version acts as the starter kit, offering a perfect single bed setup for children, university students or anyone living in a small space.

A unique expansion set can be used to extend the width by a further 90cm creating a generous super king size bed.Conversely, if you choose to purchase the larger 180cm version of the bed, you have the ability to downsize should you need to.
