GUBI was founded in Copenhagen in 1967 with a specific idea: that the best design of the 20th century deserved to stay in production, and that new design should be held to the same standard.

The result is a catalogue that spans architects and eras — Barba Corsini's Pedrera lamps, originally designed in 1955 for his renovation of Gaudí's La Pedrera in Barcelona; Jacques Adnet's leather-wrapped mirror; Pierre Paulin's F300 lounge chair, which MoMA acquired within three years of its creation. Alongside these reissues, GUBI continues to commission new work — the Beetle Chair by GamFratesi, the Bestlite lighting collection, and a growing range of furniture and lighting that shares the same rigour as the archive pieces.

What connects them is not just a house style but a consistent standard: each piece has to have been worth making in the first place.
