Gubi 9205 Table Lamp

First produced around 1950, the 9205 Table Lamp is one of Paavo Tynell's most refined and enduring designs. Elegant in its proportions and understated in its appearance, the lamp exemplifies the designer's ability to combine functional lighting with exceptional decorative detail.

While its silhouette appears simple at first glance, the 9205 reveals an extraordinary level of craftsmanship. Every element is carefully constructed using traditional techniques, resulting in a piece that feels both delicate and meticulously engineered. The distinctive stem is finished with a rattan-inspired pattern, expertly milled by hand to create the appearance of overlapping woven strips, adding texture and visual depth to the design.

Available with either a canvas or bamboo shade, each version highlights the artisanal processes behind its creation. The canvas shade is formed by carefully attaching the fabric to a liner before securing it by hand to a wire frame. The bamboo version offers a contemporary interpretation of Tynell's original ryegrass cane shades, with individual slats sewn together by hand to create a pleated mat before being fixed to the frame.

A discreet brass plate secures the shade to the stem, providing a subtle finishing detail that reflects Tynell's meticulous attention to design and construction.
