Discover Eco-Friendly Olive Tanned Leather From Vitra
Vitra's new eco-friendly leather feels, looks and even smells like the premium leather we're used to, but helps to keep their minimise on global resources and the environment.

What is olive tanning?
This process involves using a tanning agent extracted from the leaves of the olive tree, an innovative new process that produces the same great results without the environmentally harmful substances used in traditional tanning.
Olive leaves are a waste product of the olive industry and were traditionally burned after harvest. By using these leaves in the leather tanning process, Vitra are able to provide a more environmentally sustainable leather whilst also preventing several tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from burned leaves.

By retaining the soft, supple qualities of regular premium quality leather, the high level of lightfastness and rubbing, as well the fact that the process allows for the production of a broad spectrum of colours, it's an innovation which offers benefits at all stages of the manufacturing process.
Additionally, the leather for Vitra's premium olive tanned leather is sourced from Denmark and southern Germany which reduced transport in the production process, therefore reducing the carbon footprint of your next lounge chair.
Buy any Eames Lounge Chair, Repos or Grand Repos before January 31st 2021 and we'll upgrade your leather to the new premium olive leaf tanned leather at no extra cost. That's a saving of up to £350 when you buy a chair and ottoman.
