Description
The Bertoia Bird Ottoman from Knoll is designed to complement the Bertoia Bird Chair.Designed by Harry Bertoia in 1952, the Bird Chair is an astounding study in space, form, and function by one of the master sculptors of the last century. This matching ottoman adds to its appeal, coming in the same broad spectrum of colours from various Knoll Studio fabrics which are all suitable for both contract and domestic use.
The legs of the Bertoia Bird Ottoman are made from made from welded steel rods with a polished chrome or black or white rilsan finish. It's scratch, chip and chemical resistant and comes with black plastic floor glides.

Harry Bertoia
Italian born, Harry Bertoia started his career as a teacher. It was not until he left this post to join the war effort in the Eames office in Venice, that he realised his passion for sculpture after attending welding classes. Bertoia primarily used hand coated metal rods in his work as they allowed him to build up large nets that formed a multi-layered effect signifying space and time. The first examples of this new style of seating were seen when he accepted the invitation to work for Knoll Associates, where he produced the Bertoia Diamond Chair in the 1950s.
