The Safari Chair, was inspired by a British officer's chair which designer Kaare Klint had seen in a travel guide for Africa. This is Klint's most successful design with Carl Hansen having sold more than 100,000 pieces since it was first made in 1933. Lightweight yet functional, the Safari Chair has been re-introduced and consists of 11 components, each of which can be simply detached and assembled without the aid of tools. This 'knock down' construction and absence of adhesive means the chair adapts to those seated. The tiltable backrest pivots to suit a range of lounging positions.

Klint's interest in classical furniture art is visible via the simplified forms and choice of high quality materials, in particular the belted and leg and back straps which holds the form together when assembled.

Safari is available in a range of options including an oiled ash or smoked ash frame. The seat, seat cushion and back rest can be selected in a blue, green, brown and nature coloured canvas with leather arm straps in a complementary hue. Alternatively, a leather seat and back can be purchased from four hues in Thor leather.

Fabric Description :
Canvas - 90% New Wool and 10% nylon. Durable with a semi-plain wave, its perfect for both domestic and contract use.
Thor Leather- This semi-aniline leather has a natural grain and its occasional slight scars and markings add to its individuality. Coated with a protective layer to increase practicality and withstand stains and fading, this leather will wear slightly over time adding to its appearance.
