The original Vitra Eames Plastic Dining Armchair (DAR) with metal leg base. It comes in a large range of colours and choice of leg finishes to suit your dining area. It's also now made from post consumer recycled plastic.

Description
This Eames Chair is the DAR Dining Chair from Vitra which features a standard four leg strut rod base. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames as part of the plastic chair series DAR means 'dining height arm chair, rod base'. This iconic dining armchair has a moulded polypropylene shell in a variety of colours, with chrome-plated steel or black powder coated leg base for a robust finish. Every colour in this selection is carefully chosen to complement the others, so you can mix and match a variety of shades to suit your décor.
What does RE mean on Vitra products?
Products marked RE use recycled materials. Vitra's commitment to more environmentally sustainable production has led them to engineer the Eames Plastic Shell chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic. The recycled material stems from German household waste collected via the "Yellow Bag" (Gelber Sack) system. Utilising this material instead of virgin plastic generates fewer climate-damaging emissions and consumes significantly less energy, all while maintaining Vitra's incredibly high standards.

Charles & Ray Eames
Charles and Ray Eames were the husband-and-wife design team who helped shape modern design as we know it. Famous for their playful yet functional approach, the Eameses worked across architecture, furniture, industrial design and even film and photography — always with the belief that good design should improve everyday life.
Their collaboration with Vitra began in 1957 and has since produced some of the most iconic pieces in modern interiors, from the Eames Lounge Chair to the Eames Plastic Chair collection. More than just beautiful objects, their designs embody a philosophy of practicality, comfort and timeless style. As Charles Eames once put it, “Recognising the need is the primary condition for the design.”
Today, Vitra continues to honour and produce the Eames’ creations, ensuring their legacy lives on in homes, offices and public spaces around the world.
