The FH429 Signature Chair from Carl Hansen & Son was designed by Fritz Henningsen in 1954. This was the last piece he designed and consummated his legacy as one of Denmark's greatest furniture designers.
Through its elegant simplicity Henningsen sought to create a lounge chair which achieved perfection through choice of materials, functionality and comfort. When the final design was realised after months of rigorous testing and adjustment in 1954, only 20 of the original were every produced. In fact, Carl Hansen had to source an original Signature Chair to X-ray and dismantle to recreate the chair true to its original design, as Henningsen had destroyed all his models and working drawings prior to his death.
A triumph of undisputed elegance, beauty and comfort the Signature Chair has a soft, inviting and organic form which calls for quiet contemplation. It's available with a frame in oiled walnut, oiled oak, white oiled oak or soaped oak in a large selection of fabrics and leathers. -
Soap - The closest to raw wood; grain and structure are visible; light in colour
Oil - Grain and structure are visible; lighter than soap; creates lustre and brings out contrast in grain and structure. Darkens over time to a rich patina
Clear Lacquer- Grain & structure visible, darker than soap, glossy smooth finish which yellows over time.
White Oil - Same as oil with grain and structure visible with a light tinge.
