Description
This Vitra EA222 Soft Pad Eames Lounge Chair is from the Aluminium Group range designed by Charles & Ray Eames. Like its sister EA 124 Chair the Soft Pad version has the same structure but with stitched nappa leather pads of upholstery, rendering it more comfortable and making for an interesting contrast to the slim aluminium profile of the frame.
The EA222 features a tilting frame in either chromed or polished aluminium and has armrests with a four star swivel base and it comes in a range of colour grades and colours leathers. A separate ottoman is also available.
Vitra has produced this chair for many decades to a consistently high quality and on the basis of this gives a 30 year guarantee on all Aluminium Group chairs.

Charles & Ray Eames
Charles and Ray Eames were the husband-and-wife design team who helped shape modern design as we know it. Famous for their playful yet functional approach, the Eameses worked across architecture, furniture, industrial design and even film and photography — always with the belief that good design should improve everyday life.
Their collaboration with Vitra began in 1957 and has since produced some of the most iconic pieces in modern interiors, from the Eames Lounge Chair to the Eames Plastic Chair collection. More than just beautiful objects, their designs embody a philosophy of practicality, comfort and timeless style. As Charles Eames once put it, “Recognising the need is the primary condition for the design.”
