Mika Tolvanen
Prolific Finnish designer Mika Tolvanen designs products that are self-explanatory, uncomplicated, and yet complex in their use. After graduating from the prestigious Royal College of Art, London, with a Master in Design in 2001, Tolvanen and his spouse Julie Tolvanen founded their own design office, Studio Tolvanen. He has since worked with some of the world’s top designers and manufacturers, producing designs such as the coveted Muuto Base Table. Part of the Finnish Rehti Design Group, his design philosophy is centred around a passion for true and simple design, with a function-orientated approach as he firmly believes objects are there to be used, not looked at.
