The Carl Hansen Colonial Sofa was designed by Ole Wanscher in 1964 but was only ever manufactured in small quantities. Carl Hansen brought the Colonial sofa to life along with other designs in the range in 2015, giving the design the attention it rightly deserved. The gentle curvature of the exposed timber frame of the chair can be seen from behind and makes for a comfortable sit. It's available in a variety of wood and upholstered finishes for you to chose from.

Description

The OW149-2 Colonial Sofa, designed by Ole Wanscher for Carl Hansen exudes the same refined grandeur through its unrivalled craftsmanship. Constructed for maximum comfort, its beauty radiates from the exquisite frame of simple interlocking Scandinavian lines, which exhibit the depth and finish of the solid wood. The gentle curvature of the back legs and prominent armrests promote its unique character, which is extremely stable and personable.

A high back rest of convex horizontal panels accommodate the upholstered back cushions as well as a hand woven cane seat integrated into its broad stature.

The Colonial Sofa is available in a range of Carl Hansen leathers and iupholstery choices which are all suitable for both contract and domestic use. These can be combined with a frame in soaped oak, oiled oak, lacquered oak, white oiled oak or oiled walnut.

Wood Finishes
Soap - The closest to raw wood; grain and structure are visible; light in colour
Oil - Grain and structure are visible; lighter than soap; creates lustre and brings out contrast in grain and structure. Darkens over time to a rich patina
Clear Lacquer- Grain & structure visible, darker than soap, glossy smooth finish which yellows over time.
White Oil - Same as oil with grain and structure visible with a light tinge.
