Artek + Marimekko

Artek's 90th anniversary celebrations continue with a collaborative furniture collection with Finnish fashion and lifestyle house, Marimekko.

To mark its 90th anniversary, Artek has partnered with Marimekko to release a special-edition collection of Alvar Aalto furniture. The collaboration blends Marimekko’s renowned printmaking heritage with Artek’s mastery of bentwood craftsmanship, resulting in designs that embody the shared spirit of two Finnish design icons. Both brands are united by their bold visual language and a philosophy shaped by architecture, nature, and a human-centred approach to everyday life.

The pieces feature Maija Isola’s Arkkitehti patterns, reinterpreted through a refined marquetry technique on Finnish birch surfaces. The graphic motifs shimmer subtly across tabletops, echoing Isola’s ability to capture beauty and rhythm from the natural world. This marriage of Artek’s timeless, functional furniture with Marimekko’s expressive prints creates a collection that feels both joyful and enduring.

At its core, the project reflects the shared DNA of two Finnish design houses: strong visual identities rooted in architecture, nature, and a practical yet human approach to everyday life. It is also the first limited-edition release to unite Artek and Marimekko, offering timeless pieces that bring character and delight into daily living.
