Designed by Robert Dudley Best, the Bestlite BL5 Wall Lamp has been made in Birmingham since the 1930s. The lamp is an example of Bauhaus design - it was featured in the Architect’s Journal and received widespread success. Description

The Bestlite BL5 Wall Lamp is a wall mounted light which provides direct light. It has a chrome or brass height adjustable arm mounted on a horizontal bar to alter the height of the tiltable diffuser. This is available in several metal finishes as well as bone china. All options come with a flex and in-line switch to plug into a socket with some options available as hard wired - so you can wire directly into a wall socket and operate from a wall switch.

Bestlite have been manufacturing this lamp design by Robert Dudley Best in Birmingham since the 1930s. An early example of the Bauhaus movement it was featured in the 'Architects Journal'. This opened up the light's potential to the architectural community and huge success followed. Its credibility was also strengthened with the Prime Minister Winston Churchill using one on his desk, giving the lamp iconic status.

A design classic in its own right the Bestlite now comes in many different forms and has many applications. Spanning the design spectrum Bestlite lends itself to both cutting edge contemporary and traditional interiors alike.

The BL5 Bestlite is supplied with a wall bracket which allows you to choose your wiring option: hard-wired or socket. The light comes with an exposed cable and plug for a socket, but it can also be hard wired into your wall.
