The Artek Kaari Shelf with Desk is a distinct, space-saving solution that works to create a truly unique and stunning interior using limited space. Combining form and function with innovative design, it has been designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec as part of their Kaari Collection for Finnish design brand Artek. The principle is extremely simple: the solid wood elements are supported by a wooden frame and diagonal bent steel bands that embrace the contours of the piece. The steel bands draw a kind of wing bracket-angle that support the ensemble and create a linear and rhythmic silhouette.

"From the beginning we had the idea to make a collection in link with the Artek tradition but from our contemporary stance. We continued our exploration around the combination of materials and created Kaari, a novel construction system resulting of a hybridization of solid wood and steel bands" - Bouroullec Brothers.
