The Vitra Eames Plastic Stool RE marks a new chapter for the iconic 1950s shell chair design by Charles and Ray Eames. Make the stools your own with a wide range of seat colours as well as base heights and finishes available.

Description
The Eames Plastic Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames were a groundbreaking design as the very first chairs to be developed out of plastic for industrial production. Their organically shaped seat shells can be combined with various bases and today are manufactured in recycled plastic by Vitra.
The latest addition to the extensive collection, the Eames Plastic Stools RE brings the shell seating series to new heights. Available as a counter or bar stool, these versions are perfect for the contemporary kitchen. The black or chrome-plated four-legged base comes in a choice of two heights: medium for standard kitchen counters and high for standing-height tables (see specification for exact dimensions).
Outdoor use
Eames Plastic Stools (unupholstered) with a black powder-coated base are suitable for use outdoors on a temporary or seasonal basis, following care instructions. Avoid prolonged exposure to the elements, Clean and store away in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance.
What does RE mean on Vitra products?
Products marked RE use recycled materials. Vitra's commitment to more environmentally sustainable production has led them to engineer the Eames Plastic Shell chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic. The recycled material stems from German household waste collected via the "Yellow Bag" (Gelber Sack) system. Utilising this material instead of virgin plastic generates fewer climate-damaging emissions and consumes significantly less energy, all while maintaining Vitra's incredibly high standards.

Charles & Ray Eames
American husband and wife design duo Charles and Ray Eames have had a profound influence on the visual character of American life, producing original work within the fields of architecture, furniture design, industrial design, manufacturing and the photographic arts.
The Eames’ first partnered with Vitra in 1957 to produce some of the most iconic pieces of furniture in the history of interior design. Today Vitra continues to reflect their philosophy on design and functionality, best understood through Charles’ own words: “Recognising the need is the primary condition for the design”.
