Description
Jean Prouvé designed the Potence Petite wall lamp in the 1940s for use in his own home. A simple and modest design consisting of a lightbulb attached to a pivoting metal bar, the Vitra Abat-Jour Conique Lamp Shade was developed 7 years later. The simple, conical shade softens the look of the piece and diffuses the light produced by the bulb, creating a more atmospheric illumination.
Crafted from powder-coated steel and brushed cotton, it has an elegant, organic look. The shade simply fits over the light bulb and can be removed when needed.

Jean Prouve
Jean Prouvé is regarded as one of the most influential furniture designers of the early modern design movement. Specialising in the use of steel and aluminium in his designs, he is said to have considered himself more as an engineer than a modern designer. Prouvé was a pioneer of his time concentrating purely on efficiency and the materials being used rather than just the aesthetic appeal of products.
