Description
The &Tradition Verpan VP14 Floor Table Lamp is an iconic piece that beautifully captures the spirit of Danish modern design based on a 1959 pendant light classic, bringing a new perspective on this recognised form. The concept behind the floor and table lamp reinterpretations can be traced back to 1962, when Danish designer Nanna Ditzel sought an unconventional lighting solution for her exhibition. She turned to her close friend and fellow designer Verner Panton, who suggested using his design in an elegant yet unexpected display: mounting the Topan shade on a cylindrical acrylic base, allowing it to hover just above the ground. The effect was both playful and atmospheric, a signature of Panton’s visionary approach to design. With its striking geometric form and soft ambient glow, the VP14 is more than just a lamp, it’s a sculptural focal point that enhances the atmosphere of any room.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the lamp reflects &Tradition’s commitment to blending craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless aesthetics. The dome-shaped shade not only diffuses light gently but also creates a warm, inviting mood perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, or stylish workspaces.
Whether placed on a table or floor, the VP13 adds an element of sophistication while remaining practical and versatile. Designed to stand the test of time, this lamp embodies the enduring values of Scandinavian design - functionality, simplicity, and elegance. In three finishes with a matching textile cord the shade is spun into a single shape using a single piece of aluminium whilst the base is made of extruded acrylic. The edges of the base are flame polished to make them smooth and transparent. For the slightly smaller/ lower version see the Verpan VP13 Table Lamp

Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926–1998) was one of Denmark’s most influential and daring 20th-century designers, celebrated for his bold use of colour, innovative materials, and sculptural forms. Originally working for Arne Jacobsen he broke away from the traditional Scandinavian design language of natural woods and muted tones, embracing plastic, steel, and vibrant palettes to create designs that felt futuristic, playful, and unmistakably modern.
Best known for the Vitra Panton Chair, the world’s first moulded plastic chair made from a single piece, his work pushed the boundaries of what furniture and lighting could be. From striking pendant lamps to expressive modular seating systems, Panton’s creations are not only functional but also immersive, transforming interiors into environments full of personality and energy.
Throughout his career, he collaborated with leading brands such as Vitra producing pieces that remain icons of modern design. His lamps and furniture are now regarded as design classics, held in museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the V&A in London.
Owning a Verner Panton design means more than buying a piece of furniture or lighting - it’s an investment in a visionary’s legacy. His work continues to inspire contemporary interiors, bringing boldness, optimism, and timeless Scandinavian innovation into everyday living.
