Description
A true masterpiece of twentieth-century modernist design, the Nemo Lighting Parliament Floor Lamp was originally created by Le Corbusier in 1963 for the Parliament complex in Chandigarh, India. Designed during one of the architect’s most influential periods, the lamp perfectly embodies his vision of functional beauty, architectural clarity, and industrial precision.
The design is defined by its distinctive pair of opposing conical shades, carefully balanced to provide both direct downward illumination and softer indirect ambient light. This dual-lighting approach creates a warm yet highly functional atmosphere, making the lamp equally suited to reading areas, living spaces, offices, and sophisticated hospitality interiors.
Crafted with an unmistakably architectural silhouette, the Parliament Floor Lamp draws inspiration from the utilitarian lighting used in industrial and civic buildings during the post-war modernist era. The adjustable diffusers allow the direction of light to be modified with ease, offering both flexibility and sculptural presence within a space.
Its carefully curated colour combinations pay homage to Le Corbusier’s renowned “Claviers de Couleurs” palette - a pioneering architectural colour system developed to shape mood, proportion, and spatial harmony. The result is a floor lamp that feels simultaneously bold, refined, and timeless.
Produced by Nemo Lighting, the Parliament Floor Lamp remains one of the most iconic examples of architectural lighting design, seamlessly uniting engineering, aesthetics, and functionality in a form that continues to define contemporary interiors decades after its creation.

Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris) - 1887-1965 - was a prolific French architect, designer, urbanist, painter and writer and one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century - a pioneer of what is now called 'modern architecture'. A vehement advocate of the modern aesthetic Le Corbusier designed with a much revered puritan severity. His view that a modern house or apartment was a 'machine for living' in is exemplified by some of the furniture he created to go in them such as the LC4 Chaise, LC1 Armchair and LC2 Armchair from Cassina.
