Description

Great Reasons To Buy The Gubi Grace Lounge Chair

  • The Grace Lounge Chair by Gubi is an elegant, informal take on the classic rattan lounge chair.
  • The curvilinear, organic frame holds an indulgently deep seat cushion and a loose back pillow for added comfort.
  • Featuring elegant curves and smooth lines, the frame has been woven by hand from the natural rattan material by highly skilled craftspeople.

Why You'll Love This Upholstered Rattan Lounge Chair

The Grace Lounge Chair was originally designed by Danish architect and designer Tove Kindt-Larsen in 1936 but has not been put into production until today. Gubi has worked closely with Tove Kindt-Larsen’s family to develop the Grace Lounge Chair from a conceptual sketch that was discovered in an archived folder of her jewellery designs.

Inspired by the organic shapes found in nature, especially the pebbles and driftwood collected from the white-sand beaches of Denmark’s northern coast, the Grace Chair is a compilation of curves. Featuring a circular seat atop a slightly larger, circular base, the embracing backrest is populated with long loops of rattan which cast beautifully patterned shadows. The lower part of the backrest is woven together to support a generously upholstered seat cushion, the rattan flexes under the weight of the sitter, adding another layer of support as it adapts to the contours of the body. A loose pillow can be positioned according to the sitter’s preference. Perfect for placing in a sunny spot, the chair is also light enough to be taken outside on a warm day.
