Gubi F300 Lounge Chair
Pierre Paulin designed the F300 Lounge Chair for Artifort in 1965. MoMA acquired it within three years. Now reissued by GUBI in a material made from recycled industrial plastic waste, the original shell geometry unchanged. No flat surfaces, no fixed posture — it sits differently depending on how you use it.

Description
Pierre Paulin came to furniture through sculpture. Trained at the École Camondo in Paris, he spent two decades at Dutch manufacturer Artifort developing an approach to seating that treated the body as something to design around rather than accommodate. The F300, dating to 1965, is one of the clearest results of that thinking.
The chair has no flat surfaces and no prescribed sitting position. It sits low to the ground and wraps around the body from below — you find your own way into it, and it holds you there without directing you. The Museum of Modern Art in New York acquired it for their permanent collection in 1968, where it remains today.
GUBI reissued the F300 after spending two years reverse-engineering the original production process. The shell is now made from HiREK, a high-performance polymer produced from industrial plastic waste — lightweight and finished to the same high-gloss standard as the original fibreglass. The upholstery is applied using a thermoforming technique developed for luxury automotive interiors.
Available in a choice of colourways and fabric combinations. The F300 is also available with the T877 side table, designed by Paulin as its companion piece.
