The Flos Oplight W1 Wall Light is a super ordinary uplighter that has been designed by Jasper Morrison to be future proof, both in terms of design and environmental impact. The lamps simple form resembles a musical note on a pentagram, or as the designer describes it, "the most obvious, definitive shape a wall light could be".

Description
Jasper Morrison's Oplight W1 Wall Light for Italian lighting specialists Flos, is a simple, super ordinary uplighter that has been designed to stand the test of the time and shows that technologically advanced products can be made with respect for the environment. No glue is used to assemble the various parts that make up Oplight, meaning that they can therefore be separated, replaced individually, and recycled separately depending on the material. OPLIGHT is a future-proof lamp destined to last a long time, and at the end, nothing is wasted.
Oplights light source is a board of LED’s which are covered with a clear but ridged panel which deflects the light out at an angle away from the wall. Morrison points out that a lot of care was taken in choosing the colour finishes, to ensure that the lamp would fit in as many types of different architectural atmospheres as possible. His goal, is for the lamp to enhance the atmosphere of any space, without being obtrusive or even noticeable.

Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison was born in London in 1959 and studied design at Kingston Polytechnic, The Royal College of Art and HDK in Berlin. In 1986 he set up his Office for Design in London and designed for many companies including Alessi, Flos, Alias, Cappellini, Colombo Design, FSB, Magis, Rosenthal, SCP, Sony and Vitra amongst others. His Glo Ball range of lamps for Flos and Hal Chairs for Vitra are some of his most commercially successful designs - proving how a simple aesthetic can create mass and timeless appeal.
