The Akari 1A Table Lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi from Vitra was first designed in 1951 as part of the Akari Light Sculptures collection, a group of handcrafted lights made of shoji paper and named after the Japanese word "akari" which means "light".
The Akari 1A Table Lamp represents therefore both illumination and physical lightness, with the combination of its design and the way the light filters through the lightweight shoji paper.
