The Akari 9AD Floor Lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi from Vitra was first designed in 1951 as part of the Akari Light Sculptures collection, a group of handcrafted lights named after the Japanese word "akari" which means "light".

The Akari 9AD Floor Lamp represents therefore both illumination and physical lightness, with the combination of its design and the way the light filters through the lightweight paper form. The Akari 9AD Floor Lamp is created from washi paper and bamboo ribbing and is supported by a metal frame.
