Vitra has extended the Wooden Doll collection from 16 to 22. We have a number of collectors who will love these six new editions. Part joyful, part sinister looking characters, these designs by Alexander Girard make colourful decorative accessories in any space. Our favourite is the new Model 19.

We're delighted to be stocking the reissued collection of Braun Watches. Designed by Braun designers Dietrich Lubs and Dieter Rams the collection has been developed with subtle changes to ensure they still meet the design-oriented style prominent with the Braun timepiece collection, without compromising their design aesthetic.
Frits Hansen Favn Sofa
With my love of all things purple (the Utility logo for instance) I love the purple colour combination of the Favn Sofa from Fritz Hansen. Launched in Milan this year Favn , designed by Jaime Hayon, comes in 10 set colour combinations - as specified by the designer - or can be ordered in one single fabric choice from any of 9 options in the Kvadrat range. Favn has had a lot of media attention recently and it's easy to see why. It's mid century modern appeal is both familiar yet as a contemporary design it's completely original. Favn has also been designed to sit beside other Fritz Hansen classics like the Egg Chair and Swan Chair. A sound investment!
Christian Dell Lighting by Fritz Hansen
Fritz Hansen have recreated a classic collection of lights from the 1930s. Designed by Christian Dell this Bauhaus collection - known as "Kaiser iDell" includes two floor lamps, two table lamps, a wall light and pendant. In high gloss finishes in shades of black, white and ivory the larger table lamp and pendant also comes in a rich ruby red. Each piece is stamped "ORIGINAL KAISER idell" - all absolute classics! New Flos and Gubi Lights
Flos and Gubi have launched new lights for 2011. The Can Can Light - designed by Marcel Wanders for Flos - is a suspension light in black or white with a simple silhouette and contrasting filagree diffuser, It's available in two sizes - Can Can and Mini Can Can. Gubi, on the other hand, has introduced re-edition lights from the 1940s and 50s. The Cobra Lamp, with it's large pivoting head and flexible neck, just like that of a Cobra is available in three colours and comes in two versions : Cobra Table Lamp and Cobra Floor Lamp. Staying with a wildlife theme the Grasshopper Floor Lamp has a suitably grasshopper like upright profile and comes in five colours including our favourite - vintage red.

Kartell designs launched in Milan are now available online. These include the Magic Hole Chair and Sofa - a new outdoor seating solution by Philippe Starck and Eugenni Quitllet; the Sundial Bookcase - a black or white bookcase with 'sundial' set dividers; the Bloom Elliptical Light - a development from the original Bloom Light launched in 2010 and the Audrey Chair - a perfect seating solution for outdoor or contract use. Gubi Semi Pendant Light
Now a design icon the Gubi Semi Pendant Light was designed by Danish architects, Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup, in 1967. In 1968 the light won an industrial competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture on the grounds of the lamp's unique geometric design. The light became world famous for its curved, enameled metal design based on a quarter of a circle. Available in two sizes in five colours it's now available online at : Semi Suspension Light.

We've added NUD Lights to our online collection. These simple suspension fittings with their vibrantly coloured cords give a jazzy lift to your average standard pendant light. Funk them up with one of many funky bulbs now available.
Diesel Lighting
Now online is the new collection by Diesel for Foscarini, complementing the collection which was launched last year. The 'Tool' range includes a floor, table and two pendant lights in cast rubber and concrete. 'Perf' as its name suggests, uses perforated metal to create a range of metallic table and floor lamps in several finishes. The 'Fork' table and floor lamps are now complemented with a suspension light in two sizes, but in the same ivory and grey fabric finishes. For a cool urban look this comprehensive lighting range is perfect!

Exciting developments from B&B Italia in Milan this year. Antonio Citterio has developed his classic Charles Sofa into a more comfortably, relaxed version which he has named Ray (love the Eames connection). We have now taken on a dealership for Carl Hansen & Son - manufacturer of the original Wishbone Chair (Y Chair or CH24 as it is also known). Manufacturers of some of the finest examples of Danish design Utility is one of only a few dealers of the Wishbone Chair and Carl Hansen Collection. Eames Plastic Chairs in New Colours!
The chairs in the Eames Plastics furniture range have all become design classics in their own right but this year their manufacturer Vitra has relaunched the range in a new palette of colours. Caboche Goes Gold....
Three years after Foscarini launched the hugely successful Caboche light and lamp range they have introduced this in a new amber gold colour for 2008.

Vitra New Designs
This week sees the launch of the Basel Chair from Vitra. Designed by Jasper Morrison, Basel is a re-invention of the simple wooden chair. Made in a variety of contemporary colours with two wood finishes Basel combines a timber frame with a plastic seat and backrest.
Also new from Vitra is a special edition of the Ball Clock by George Nelson. Designed to celebrate the centenary of Nelson's birth this clock has a brass casing with black balls.

Alessi have launched their new autumn/winter collection with exciting new products in all three ranges. A Di Alessi has additions to the Orientales range - the cute 'Forest Gump' condiment set as well as a new edition 'Proust' Parrot Corkscrew.

Liverpool Goes SUPERLAMBANANAS
This weekend sees Liverpool 'Go Superlambananas' with the launch of the trail of 125 Superlambanana decorated by commisioned local artists in conjunction with local businesses and community groups. Spread all over Liverpool and Merseyside the trail will continue until the end of August.
In celebration of this we at Utility have our very own Superlambananas in our Bold Street furniture store. See them on the trail! What's more, to celebrate the trail we have exclusively launched 'Midi Superlambanana' - a scale model of the original made from fibreglass, slightly smaller than the ceramic Mini Superlambanana which is suitable for outdoor use - great for brightening up the garden!

We have now introduced the range of lighting from exciting new Danish company Lightyears. This Danish company is only two years old but has already received worldwide acclaim for their inspirational range of lighting. The Caravaggio suspension light was recently featured in Elle Decoration and with its various sizes lends itself to a huge range of interior applications. HANI RASHID - ALESSI DESKTOP ARCHITECTURE
The Autumn 2006 collection sees the launch of HANI RASHID'S 'DESKTOP ARCHITECTURE' for ALESSI - a range of uber cool desktop items challenging the more mundane designs of everyday office items we normally take for granted. The range includes the 'STILA' Paper Knife and the 'TRINA' Pen & Pencil Holder all in stainless steel. To complement the range the 'PARQ' Desk Tray comes in three subtle colours. What's more, with prices starting at just £15.00 for the paper knife this ALESSI range won't break the bank either. Hani Rashid was born in Cairo in 1958 and now lives in New York, where he founded Studio Asymptote in 1988.
