The 66 Dining Chair for Artek, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1935, once again demonstrates Aalto's close working relationship with birch and shows his ability to produce smooth curved wooden surfaces. Understated yet stylish, the 66 Chair has been designed to his usual exacting standards. .
The L-Leg structure solved the age-old problem of joining vertical legs to horizontal seat tops. Aalto’s leg, laminated and bent at 90, can be fastened directly to the underside of the top, eliminating any need for any framework or additional support.
