Description
This Eames DSW Fiberglass Chair in 'Classic Red' from Vitra is the authentic original DSR Chair which was designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1950. The chair was originally manufactured in fiberglass, though production was suspended for a number of years until a new production method made it possible to recreate the seat shell - without the environmental issues associated with the earlier version.
With clearly visible fibres on the surface of the chair, these give the chair a lively appearance and enhance its 'natural' finish. The DSW (Dining Height, Side Chair, Wood Base) features the classic Eames wood and metal base in a dark or light finish.
With its organic and familiar form, further improvements by Vitra include new rubber shock mounts below the seat to support longer periods of sitting and a revised geometry of the seat to achieve optimum levels of ergonomics and comfort.
