Description
Albini was one of the leading protagonists of Italian Neorationalism. His work offers profound insights into an important movement in Italian architecture and design during the 1950s. The scarcity of materials during the early postwar years inspired industrial designers to combine traditional crafts and organic, natural forms with innovative designs. Albini made an outstanding contribution to architecture and design by using readily available, inexpensive raw materials, with which he created distinctly modern chairs, like the Gala armchair. His original Gala Chair represents a unique synthesis of minimalism, elegance and formal mastery.
Here, The iconic Gala Chair has been replicated into a miniature model of the full-sized original.
As part of the Vitra Design Museum collection, miniature editions of classic chairs were produced to celebrate modern furniture design history.
The construction, materials and colours correspond to the historical Vitra Design Museum collection originals, right down to the last detail. Because they are so true to the originals, the miniatures are not only valuable collector's items, but also ideal illustrative materials for universities, design colleges and architects.
