Description
The String Pira G2 Shelving System is a contemporary interpretation of a 1954 design by Ole Pira (1927-2018), reimagined in this contemporary version by Anna von Schewen & Börn Dahlström.
Being both floor to ceiling or wall mounted this is a shelving system which lends itself to any application - from creating a wall display for life's treasures to a room divider to define two spaces. Pira is the sum of many parts - a series of interlocked joints, poles, flats and triangles, each no longer than a metre yet extendable to reach most ceilings from all floors. Whilst modular Pira appears as one harmonious whole with a jointless centrepiece with no beginnings or ends. A masterpiece of modern design, complex and sophisticated whilst creating calm and wellbeing wherever it lives in your space
Buying Guide - key points to purchasing Pira Shelving components. Please see the assembly instructions
Firstly decide if your system is to be wall mounted or floor to ceiling mounted. The maximum height for a wall mounted system is 308cm which floor to ceiling is 316cm. Then select the components needed:
Side Poles. These should be the minimum number of lengths to make up the height required. There are 11 different lengths available in black or grey with one end threaded to allow you to attach the adjustable leg, ceiling mount. Use the mimimum amount of poles required to reach your desired height.
Dimensions : H: 16.7cm; 25cm; 33.4cm; 41.7cm; 50cm; 58.4cm; 66.7cm; 75cm; 83.3cm; 91.7cm or 100cm
Pole Joints - only one size available to attach two poles together. Allow one per joint.
Dimensions : W: 3cm; H: 16cm; D: 4.5cm
Top Lid - this provides an end cap to your total pole length. Use for wall mounted instalations only.
Dimensions : W: 3.5cm; H: 2cm; D: 5cm
Leg - 1 or 2 per pole length (2 if fixing to a ceiling) - these attach to the bottom of each full pole length and allow you to adjust the height. They include a rubber pad to provide resistance and protect the floor. The leg also holds the plate used to mount floor to ceiling mounted installations included in the assembly kit. If you are doing a ceiling installation you put one on the floor end of the pole length and one on the ceiling end and adjust to secure the fit.
Dimensions : W: 8cm; H: 12cm; D: 8cm
Wall Brackets - if you are mounting your shelves on the wall rather than floor to ceiling. This also distances the pole from the wall and can be attached anywhere along the pole length except where a shelf is placed.
Dimensions : W: 3cm; H: 4cm; D: 17.5cm
Support Beams - these are horizontal beams that provide visible and functional stability. Use at the same level across your system - be it at the top or the bottom ideally.
Dimensions : W: 70cm or 90cm; H: 11cm; D: 1cm
Shelves - made from sheet steel with an integrated ridge these are designed to provide load bearing capacity upto 50kg and includes a shelf bracket for technical stability and a v-shaped gable - a legacy from the 1954 design. They come in two lengths : 70cm and 90cm and a maximum of 7 can be mounted per bay.
Dimensions : W: 70cm or 90cm; H: 5cm; D: 34cm
Cabinets (if required) - in two lengths, 70cm and 90cm in white oak or walnut.
Dimensions : W: 70cm or 90cm; H: 41.5cm; D: 31cm
Organisers (if required) - these are an organisers/ dividers in solid walnut or white oak. They organise smaller items that cannot stand upright on a shelf. They are placed directly on a shelf.
Dimensions : W: 70cm or 90cm; H: 6cm; D: 31cm
Bookends (if required) - elegantly divide shelves into sections, in solid oak or walnut
Dimensions : W: 20cm; H: 20cm; D: 3cm
Assembly Kit - you will need this; select the correct one for a wall mounted shelf or floor standing shelf installation. The ceiling one includes two plates which should be attached to the ceiling and floor and a cord with a plumb that creates a connection point to the floor.
