Oiva Toikka
Finish designer Oiva Toikka is best known for his enormous contribution to Finish glass art over the past century. Graduating in ceramics, Toikka utilised his creative talents designing stage sets and costumes for theatre, ballet and the opera. In 1957 he joined Arabia and later designed textiles for Marimekko before moving to Iittala. As a long standing designer for Iittala, a selection of his most popular works were reissued in 2010 to celebrate his 50th year. He is most well known for designing 'Kastehelmi', a selection of kitchenware inspired by dew drops, as well as his collection 'The Birds' which were first introduced in 1972.
