Description
Designed by Barcelona-based designer Marc Morro for HAY, the Manolito Stool is a study in clarity and function. Built from solid FSC-certified (C148805) pine and finished with a protective oil wax treatment, it is constructed from just a handful of precisely joined wooden components. The result is a contemporary wooden stool that feels both timeless and quietly characterful.
The design is rooted in Morro’s long-standing fascination with improvised stools made by construction workers from leftover timber. Their simple, efficient structure informed the Manolito’s logical build. A lower cross brace reinforces the legs and seat, creating a robust joint while adding a subtle architectural detail.
Compact and lightweight, the Manolito Stool is easy to move from room to room. Use it as a wooden side table in the living room, a bedside table in the bedroom, a bathroom stool, a footrest, or a practical step stool in the kitchen. Its modest footprint makes it especially suited to smaller spaces, while its solid pine construction ensures long-term durability.
Minimal in form yet rich in function, the Manolito is the kind of everyday design object that becomes part of the furniture landscape of a home. As Morro describes it, it is a good basic piece to have from a young age, equally suited as a child’s first seat or for adults who prefer sitting closer to the ground.
