Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chair - Panton Edition

The Series 7™ chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955, is one of the most recognisable pieces of Danish furniture design. Elegant, lightweight and sculptural, its curved plywood form has become an enduring icon of modern interiors.

In the early 1970s, Fritz Hansen invited Verner Panton to reinterpret the Series 7 through colour. The collaboration drew on a shared history – Panton worked in Arne Jacobsen’s studio from 1950 to 1952 early in his career. Known for his experimental spirit and pioneering use of colour psychology, Panton created a palette that reflected the optimism and bold visual language of the era, bringing a vibrant new expression to Jacobsen’s classic design.

In 2026, Fritz Hansen and Verner Panton Design AG celebrate the 100th anniversary of Verner Panton’s birth by revisiting this historic collaboration. The result is a special edition Series 7 chair released in four colours from Panton’s original palette, first developed for Fritz Hansen’s own 100-year anniversary in 1972.

Produced only through 2026, the limited colour release highlights the timeless form of the Series 7 while showcasing Panton’s distinctive approach to colour. The result is a striking balance between Jacobsen’s refined minimalism and Panton’s expressive visual identity.

This anniversary edition offers collectors and design enthusiasts a rare opportunity to own a piece of Danish design history – where two of the 20th century’s most influential designers meet in a single iconic chair.
