Description
The Fritz Hansen Monolit™ CM221 was designed for Fritz Hansen by Danish designer Cecilie Manz, whose aim was to create a chair that allows someone to sit comfortably for a long period, and one that doesn't take up a needless amount of space in a room.
Talking to Dezeen, Manz explained that despite the Monolit being available in two sizes, she doesn't like to label something a "dining" or "lounge" chair. – "Why can't a nice chair just be a nice chair? As long as it's comfortable, people can judge for themselves where it works best."
Monolit features a plywood shell and foam padding, providing a spacious and comfortable seating experience. The base features a durable powder-coated metal ring with plastic glides to protect the floor and maintain stability.
A unique base design with closed back and open front creates an airy appearance while providing ample leg room and/or space for your personal belongings – a feature that makes it perfect for commercial spaces.

Cecilie Manz
Danish designer Cecilie Manz graduated from the Danish School of Design and went on to start up her own studio, Manz Lab. Manz's strong feeling for functionality and insistence on quality have made her a favourite designer of brands including Fritz Hansen and Lightyears.
