The East River Chair
was designed by Hella Jongerius
, noted for fusing the industrial and craft, high and low tech and modern and traditional in her work. Combining wood, metal, leather and fabric the East River chair is a small armchair with a distinctive form. Jongerius has chosen three combinations of fabric - light mix, blue mix and green mix - to create three different looks. Bases can be chosen in either natural or dark oak to suit your interior. Other design considerations include the leather - which has been applied to the arms to alleviate dirt and wear, and a thicker padding applied to the seat cushion. which extends up the backrest to provide greater lumbar support. A strap and handle on the reverse give flexibility through mobility. A wonderfully characteristic addition to any home!
The design of the East River Chair
is based on a project Jongerius and Vitra completed for the North delegates Lounge at the U.N in New York.
