The Akari XP1 Table Lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi from Vitra was first designed in 1951 as part of the Akari Light Sculptures collection, a group of handcrafted lights named after the Japanese word "akari" which means "light".
The Akari XP1 Table Lamp represents therefore both illumination and physical lightness, with the combination of its design and the way the light filters through the lightweight paper form. The Akari XP1 Table Lamp is created from washi paper and bamboo ribbing and is supported by a metal frame.
