InformationThe Nagoya Teapot designed by Alison Appleton, takes inspiration from In Praise of Shadows, the Japanese study of aesthetics by Jun'jchiro Tanizaki. This is evident in the discreet, refined and classic nature of the teapot's shape.
As part of the Nagoya collection, this teapot suggests an atmospheric, sensual elegance that is perfect in the most contemporary, pared down and refined interiors. We imagine the set going in a minimalist interior, carefully lit, rendering a very modern tea ceremony.
Of her Nagoya collection, Alison says "My objective was to create an original collection harmonising traditional materials such as the smooth, matt black clay with a new textured glaze in a dark, shadowy, contemporary colour".
