Issey Miyake

Born in Hiroshima in 1938, leading Japanese designer Issey Miyake cut his teeth in graphic design before studying at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Miyake went on to work for a number of different fashion houses before establishing his own Tokyo based design studio in 1970. In 1992, the Issey Miyake 'Pleats Please' line was born and has since been fully realised and adapted in a collaboration with Artemide. The bespoke collection includes Issey Miyake table, floor and pendant lights and designs to effortlessly combine the mediums of sculpture, light, and shadow.
