Franco Albini

Franco Albini was an Italian architect and designer. Born in Milan in 1905, he was a major figure in the Rationalist Movement, excelling in architectural, furniture, industrial and museum design. Albini set up his own practice in Milan in 1931 and from 1940, worked in close collaboration with Cassina, which started with chair designs that paved the way for his signature style. He received numerous prizes, including the La Rinascente-Compasso dOro for the design of the Luisa chair. All of his design work instills a logical consistency, purity of expression and ethical and historical integrity. Albini has also designed many pieces of furniture for other famous Italian brands including the Mini Desk for Knoll.
