The Lightness basket was designed for Alessi in 1985 by Antonio Cagianelli, an architect born in Pisa in 1964 who settled in Paris in 1990 where he began developing three dimensional art, creating objects made from transparent materials reflecting characteristics such as an ephemeral nature and vanity.

The body of this basket takes its inspiration from the highly mechanical washer which, instead of being welded together, is obtained by fretworking the steel disc.
