In Holland Polder refers to the artificial land reclaimed from the sea by means of dikes and drainage canals. The Polder Sofa from Vitra is just as low-lying, just as flat, and with just as much emphasis on the horizontal.
A major departure in sofa design the Polder Sofa is set to become a future classic. It may look unconventional but it's extremely comfortable for both sitting and lying on. With its wide arms, high and low seat backs and additional arm for stretching out/reading over this is a sofa to suit just about any relaxing activity!
In this leather version of the Polder Sofa the composition of the fabric sofa is changed in various ways. For versions with dark brown nappa leather covers throughout, the multicolour principle is applied to the buttons and quilted seams either vibrantly and expressively in bright reds and oranges, or neutrally in discreet natural colour tones. By contrast, in an elegant white version the Polder Sofa boasts a composition of different qualities of leather in fine-tuned whites, emphasised by white mother of pearl buttons and turquoise seams. With classic, luxurious leather covers and striking details, the Polder Sofa combines eternal values with a fresh contemporary touch.
